Terms of Service
The Terms of Service of Hood Cleaning London are the conditions that apply to every quote, booking and visit arranged through this website or the phone line at 226-457-6745. They cover what a written quote includes, what the signed certificate records and what it does not, the access and safety a kitchen must provide, scheduling, payment, cancellation, photographs and liability. Anything agreed in writing on a specific quote takes priority over this page. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario.
What the work covers, and what it does not
The scope of the business is narrow on purpose, so the certificate means something.
In scope. Hood cleaning and kitchen exhaust cleaning (canopy, filters, plenum, duct and rooftop fan). Exhaust fan repair and installation, including hinge kits and rooftop grease containment. Commercial kitchen deep cleaning, meaning cookline and equipment degreasing. Food truck hood cleaning.
Out of scope. HVAC, air duct, coil and dryer vent work. Sanitation contracts and pressure washing. Servicing, testing or tagging of a fire suppression system. Gas work and electrical work. Roofing and roof membrane repair. Where one of these is found to need attention, it is noted for you and left to the appropriate licensed trade.
A summary of each in-scope service is on the services hub.
Written quotes and the signed certificate
Two documents carry the job: the quote before it and the certificate after it.
The quote. A written quote lists the sections of the system to be cleaned, the price, and any item that needs your separate approval, such as a seized fan or a missing access panel. It is based on what the walk-through could see. The quote holds for the period printed on it. Work outside the listed scope is not started without your approval, given by phone or in writing.
What the certificate records. The signed health and safety certificate records the date of the visit and the sections of the system that were cleaned. It references the published NFPA 96 standard. Hood Cleaning London is not affiliated with NFPA.
What the certificate does not assert. The certificate is not a fire inspection. It is not an endorsement by NFPA or by any fire service. It does not guarantee the outcome of an inspection by the London Fire Department, a local fire department on a route day, a public health unit or an insurer. Sections that could not be reached are listed as not cleaned, so the paper matches the system. The NFPA 96 guide explains how an inspector reads it.
Site access, safety and scheduling
The crew can only clean what it can safely reach.
- Power isolation. Cooking equipment under the hood must be off and cool when the crew arrives. The exhaust fan is isolated at its disconnect before anyone works on it.
- Roof access. The customer arranges access to the roof, including keys, hatch codes and landlord permission. A locked or unsafe roof ends the visit at the duct, and the certificate says so.
- Food truck access. A truck must be parked on level ground with the propane shut off at the tank and the generator off. The owner tells the crew where the truck is parked and confirms the site allows the work.
- A clear kitchen. Open food, prep stock and loose utensils must be put away before the crew arrives. The crew wraps equipment in plastic, but food left out is at the owner's risk.
- Scheduling windows. Visits are booked overnight or between services. The customer confirms the hour the kitchen closes and the hour staff return. A visit cut short by a late close is finished on another night.
Payment, cancellation, photographs and liability
The commercial terms, stated plainly.
Payment. The price on the written quote is the price charged for the listed scope. Payment method and due date are stated on the quote and the invoice. Approved extra work is invoiced as a separate line.
Cancellation. Phone 226-457-6745 as early as possible to cancel or move a booked night. Any charge for a late cancellation, or for a night lost to a locked roof or a kitchen still cooking, is stated on the quote before you accept it.
Photographs. The crew takes before-and-after photographs of every cleaned surface. The photographs belong to the service record and are sent to you. They are not published with your business name without your written permission.
Liability. Proof of WSIB coverage and liability insurance is provided before work starts. Hood Cleaning London is responsible for damage caused by its own work. It is not responsible for existing defects in a hood, duct, fan, roof or suppression system that the work reveals, for a failed inspection, or for losses caused by access or safety conditions it was not told about. Nothing in these terms limits a right that Ontario law does not allow to be limited.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Handling of personal details is covered in the privacy policy.
Terms of service: frequently asked questions
Does the certificate mean the kitchen will pass a fire inspection?
The signed certificate records what was cleaned and when, and it references the published NFPA 96 standard. The inspection result is decided by the fire service or inspector, who also looks at things outside the cleaning scope, such as the suppression system and clearances.
Can the price change after the quote is accepted?
The quoted price covers the quoted scope. A change happens only when you approve extra work that the walk-through could not see, such as a seized fan or a section that needs a new access panel. That work is priced separately before it starts.
Does Hood Cleaning London service fire suppression systems?
Fire suppression servicing is outside the scope of Hood Cleaning London. The crew cleans around nozzles and links without adjusting them. Testing and tagging stay with your suppression contractor, along with any gas or electrical work.
What happens if the roof cannot be reached on the night?
An unreachable roof stops the visit at the top of the duct. The certificate lists the fan and any roof-level sections as not cleaned, and a return visit is booked once access is arranged.
Which law applies to these terms?
Ontario law governs these terms, together with the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. Questions about any term can be raised by phone at 226-457-6745 before a quote is accepted.
